Who & What: Today Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands signed her name to the Act of Abdication as her son Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands and his wife Princess Maxima of the Netherlands became King and Queen during the abdication ceremony in the Moseszaal at the Royal Palace on April 30, 2013 in Amsterdam.

Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands is abdicating the throne after a 33 year reign and hands the throne to her son Prince Willem-Alexander who will be sworn in later at the Nieuwe Kerk ahead of a joint session of parliament.

Dress:  For the special occasion the new Queen of the Netherlands, Argentinean born investment bank Maxima wore a custom made beige silk and lace dress by Natan with a large pewter-bow draped off her shoulder.

This is what one Dutch fashion blog said about Natan designs,

One of the Dutch designers Maxima has worn several times is Jan Taminiau. However by far her favorite designer is Natan. The person behind the Belgium brand is Edouard Vermeulen. He has created a personal style of contemporary purity, a source of femininity and refinement. The richness of the materials lends purity to the simplicity of the forms. A style resolutely suited to an active and refined woman of today. Something that perfectly matches with our Dutch Royal.

We’ll have continuing coverage throughout the day  of all the royal fashions.
